Chris Venezia, MSW

I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. I take a person-centered approach to therapy, recognizing that people are the experts of their own life and experiences. It is my goal to help people grow, become more confident, and to advocate for themselves to receive the care that they want to receive. I empower clients to make their own choices in life, and to trust themselves to make decisions. After working with me, it is my hope that clients will see that they have the ability to make changes in their own lives, set and achieve goals, and grow in ways that may have previously seemed impossible. I believe people already have it in themselves to be successful at what they want in life, but may need a little help along the way in getting there.
I utilize many types of therapy including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy. As a clinician trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I am prepared to help people process trauma and distressing events. It is my goal to provide therapy without judgement. People are inherently valuable, and I enjoy helping people to see that value within themselves and learn to thrive. I chose to become a therapist because I enjoy working with people as individuals to become who they want to be. If you need healthy ways to cope with life’s stressors, I can help you learn skills such as mindfulness and grounding. I want to help you find what is important to you, and to discover how it can be achieved. If you are dissatisfied with how you see yourself or your story, together we can write a better next chapter.
