Dan Foutch, PMHNP-BC
I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner licensed to practice in the state of Illinois. I hold an additional certification as a Perinatal Mental Health Professional, due to my understanding that it can be extremely difficult to find high quality mental health care for women during the prenatal and perinatal period. I was born and raised in Champaign County and have lived here most of my life. I have been working in the field of mental health for the better part of a decade and have experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I specialize in the treatment of people ages 14 and up. I work with people suffering from anxiety, depression, mood disorders, schizophrenia, ADHD, as well as symptoms that arise from trauma and personality disorders.
I believe in a collaborative approach towards care and always do my best to involve my clients in treatment decisions and make them feel heard. I believe in a holistic approach to medicine and utilize lab work and genetic testing to help identify any physical components that may affect mental health. I also understand that diet, exercise, and sleep play a significant role in our mental functioning and address these issues to the best of my ability. I am a strong believer in an interdisciplinary approach to treatment and feel that therapy and medication management combined provides far better results than medication alone.
Mental illness affects people from all walks of life and does not discriminate. I understand this and feel that everyone deserves equitable and compassionate treatment regardless of race, ethnicity, political affiliation, gender identity, sexual preference, or religious beliefs. I strive to provide culturally sensitive and trauma-informed care to all my clients. Having struggled with mental illness myself, I understand on a personal level how devastating it can be to your personal and professional life and how hard it can be to find a provider who is compassionate and sympathetic. This directly impacts my approach to treatment and has given me the ability to connect with my clients on a fundamental level. I understand that getting help can be difficult and scary and that medication is not right for everyone. I do not believe in medicating every person that comes into my office and will work with you to determine what treatment best suits you.
