Jeff Klepec, LSW

I recently earned a Master of Social Work at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. I was born in Joliet, Illinois but moved to Bloomington-Normal to work towards my undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice at Illinois State University.

Upon earning my degree, I began my law enforcement career as a patrol officer with the Bloomington, Illinois Police Department and where I served the department and the citizens of Bloomington for 28 years. I spent the next 10 years serving the campus community as a police officer at the Illinois State University Police Department. I retired from both departments holding the rank of Lieutenant.

In my capacity of patrol officer, I served as a Field Training Officer (FTO) and a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E) Officer. In my role as a ranking officer, I supervised the FTO Program at both departments, the Community Engagement Unit (CEU) and the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) at ISUPD.

As a Social Worker, I provide compassionate and trauma-informed therapy to individuals, couples, and families. My therapeutic approach is built on the foundation of trust, empathy, and a deep belief in the human capacity for resilience.

My unique professional path includes nearly four decades in law enforcement, an experience that gave me a firsthand understanding of crisis intervention and the profound struggles people face in their darkest moments. My time on the front lines solidified my dedication to social work, motivating me to help individuals heal from the trauma they have experienced. This background allows me to bring a grounded, practical perspective to therapy, particularly for first responders and others who have experienced high-stress, critical incidents.

Today, I combine my real-world experience with evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients develop practical coping skills and foster lasting, meaningful change. My primary goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel truly heard and understood.

If you are ready to start your healing journey, I welcome you to schedule a consultation with me.
